Your Guide To Winter

2020-2021 Season

Well folks, here we are. 2020 is over, and a new year has finally arrived. Here at Sunday River, we’ve been open for operations for almost 2 months now, and we’ve been working around-the-clock to safely operate a resort during a global pandemic. But, we still need your help when it comes to following Maine CDC guidelines and resort policies in order to keep everyone safe and healthy! Just because there are some changes on the mountain this year, doesn’t mean we can’t still have a sweet time on the slopes. Here is your guide to keeping safe, shredding hard, and hanging out for the rest of the winter 2020-21 season.

Mask Up

Yup, you’ve heard this before – but it’s crucial for the resort’s operations this year. We need all our guests to wear masks that are at least two layers of fabric, unless actively eating or skiing. This includes while waiting in the lift line and riding the chairlift. And no, your ski mask with a nose-hole does NOT count.

Parking

This year, we have expanded the drop-off areas at Barker and South Ridge to encourage guests, especially families, to use these areas in order to reduce shuttle volumes. We are offering shuttles this year, however there is a reduced capacity, and masks are required. Satellite parking lots are available for day guests at the Grand Summit and Jordan hotels, with options to walk or jump on a shuttle that will take you to whatever lodge you need.

Booting Up

Access to base lodges is limited and there is no bag storage this year. That means booting and suiting up at your car. It might be a good idea to invest in a door mat you can place on the ground to boot up on and maybe even some camping chairs to make changing at your car a breeze.

On-Mountain

Make sure to grab your lift tickets online in advance this season, because we have placed a cap on number of skiers on the mountain this season to keep guests safe. This means we could potentially sell out of tickets for a day. Planning ahead will make sure you secure a spot on the slopes.

Spread Out

Why not use this season to explore more of our terrain? If you’re usually crushing hot laps on South Ridge, it might be time to venture to outer peaks – there’s probably shorter lift lines the farther out and up you go. However, always remember to ski safe and ride within your ability.

Lessons and rentals are still available this season – learn more here.

Dining & Après

Why spend a day skiing if you can’t nosh on some nachos and sip a local brew afterward? Don’t stress, après is still happening, just in an adjusted format. While none of our restaurants or bars are offering standing room this season, you and your crew can still reserve a table at Foggy Goggle or Shipyard Brew Haus for post-riding fun.

If you’re looking for a sit-down meal after your day on the slopes, you have a couple great options. Both Camp at the Grand Summit Hotel and Sliders, at the Jordan, offer delicious dinners for the whole family. Reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure you’ll have a spot saved for you.

I think that about covers it, friends. If you have more questions, please check out our COVID-19 hub – everything I’ve listed and more can be found there.
