NEWRY, MAINE (November 12, 2023) – Sunday River Resort plans to open on Tuesday, November 14, at 9:00 AM. This season, the resort intends to showcase a comprehensive opening, featuring over 50 acres of terrain, welcoming skiers and riders to enjoy top to bottom runs, all serviced by the world-class Jordan 8 chairlift.

In a historic first, Sunday River Resort expands its winter operations beyond Barker, introducing a new era of early-season convenience and accessibility. Guests will now have the opportunity to enjoy ski-in/ski-out lodging at the Jordan Hotel, complemented by slope side dining options, strategically located guest service centers, and parking facilities offering direct ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes.

Over the summer, the resort made significant enhancements to their existing snowmaking infrastructure to triple the water capacity in the Jordan Bowl. This upgrade included the installation of nearly two miles of twenty-inch snowmaking pipe, linking the newly completed North Peak Booster Pump House to the summit of the Jordan Bowl.

Sunday River expects to open with skiing at the Jordan Bowl on Tuesday for New England Passholders, Ikon Passholders, and ticket packs, with daily operations beginning immediately. Daily lift tickets will be accepted for skiing and riding beginning Wednesday, November 15.

The Jordan Bowl will service public skiers while terrain on Locke Mountain will serve as the resort’s dedicated early season training venue for pre-booked race teams and our partners Gould Academy and Bates College. Trail conditions will be communicated through the Mountain Report on SundayRiver.com and across social media channels.
